Delicious and Easy Steak Fajitas Recipe

If you're looking for a quick and flavorful meal, these steak fajitas are perfect for a busy weekday dinner. They’re packed with bold flavors and can be enjoyed in a tortilla wrap or served over white rice. Let’s dive into this simple yet delicious recipe!

Ingredients

Fajita Seasoning

1 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp cumin

½ tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1 tsp brown sugar

1 tsp cornstarch

Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Steak and Vegetables

1 lb flank steak

2 tbsp lemon juice

1 onion, sliced

1 green bell pepper, sliced (red or yellow can also be used)

2 tbsp olive oil

For the Wrap (Optional)

Flour tortillas

Cheddar cheese

Queso sauce

Sour cream

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Fajita Seasoning

In a small bowl, mix together all the seasoning ingredients. This blend adds a perfect balance of smokiness, heat, and a touch of sweetness. Once mixed, set the seasoning aside for later.

Step 2: Slice and Marinate the Steak

Take the flank steak and cut it in half, then stack the pieces together and slice thinly against the grain. This ensures the steak stays juicy and tender when cooked.

Transfer the sliced steak into a mixing bowl, add the lemon juice, and toss to coat. Then, sprinkle the fajita seasoning over the steak and mix well. Cover the bowl and let the meat marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Step 3: Cook the Steak

Heat olive oil in a cast iron pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot and slightly smoky, add half of the marinated steak. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan so the steak sears properly instead of steaming.

Cook for about 2 minutes on each side until a golden-brown sear forms. Remove the cooked steak and repeat with the remaining meat.

Step 4: Cook the Vegetables

In the same pan, add the sliced onion and bell pepper. Sauté for about 2 minutes, or until they soften slightly. If you prefer softer vegetables, cook them a bit longer.

Step 5: Combine Everything

Once the vegetables are ready, return the cooked steak to the pan and toss everything together. Your steak fajitas are now ready to be served!

Step 6: Assemble the Wrap (Optional)

For an extra delicious way to enjoy these fajitas, warm a flour tortilla on a griddle. Add cheddar cheese and let it melt. On the other side of the griddle, warm some of the steak fajitas and top with queso sauce and more cheese.

Once the cheese has melted, transfer the tortilla to a plate, add the steak fajitas, and top with sour cream. Fold and enjoy!

Final Thoughts

This steak fajita recipe is incredibly flavorful, easy to make, and perfect for a quick meal. Whether served in a tortilla wrap or with rice, it's a delicious dish that the whole family will love.
